The Diamond City – Surat Obstetrics and Gynecological Society – is all set to organise the 69th All India Congress of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (AICOG) from 6th to 10th January 2027.

After 57 years since its establishment and 55 years of affiliation with FOGSI – the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India – the vibrant Surat Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society has proudly won the prestigious and competitive bid to host the 69th All India Congress of allopathic specialists in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the diamond and textile capital of India – the glorious city of Surat.

With an anticipated gathering of over 8,000–10,000 delegates and 2,000–3,000 exhibitors from the pharmaceutical and allied industries, this will be one of the largest global events of medical specialists in this field. The previous congress was held at Yashobhumi, New Delhi, from 14th–18th January 2026.

Meticulously planned by the Organising Committee chaired by former National Vice President of FOGSI, Dr. Nimish Shelat, with Scientific Chair Dr. Prakash Bhatt; Organising Secretaries Dr. Darshan Wadekar and Dr. Sejal Naik; and Treasurers Dr. Asha Bhatt, Dr. Dipti Patel, and Dr. Narendra Vaghela - AICOG 2027 Surat will bring together highly qualified and trained doctors in women’s healthcare from across India and SAARC countries. National and international faculty from all continents - USA, UK, Europe, the Middle East, South Asia, the Far East, Australia, Canada, and South America — will grace the occasion.

Surat and South Gujarat contribute more than 25% of Gujarat’s GDP, projected to rise to 35%, with all districts merged into a Special Economic Zone by NITI Aayog.

Based on a survey of delegates who attended the last conference in Delhi, Surat emerged as the most favoured and preferred fresh destination. The 8th largest metro city of India, Surat is a true shoppers’ paradise for gems and jewellery, fabrics, textiles, clothing, and readymade garments. A mini India in itself, the city is home to a cosmopolitan population of 8.6 million representing all states of the country. Admired as the “Mumbai of Gujarat,” it offers immense business opportunities, professional growth, and a thriving start-up ecosystem spanning semiconductors, solar panels, surgical equipment including stents, textile machinery, shipbuilding, and even army tank manufacturing by L&T.

A versatile industrial and cultural hub, Surat has been home to legendary personalities including veteran actor Sanjeev Kumar, Prime Minister Morarji Desai, poet Kavi Veer Narmad, cricketers Nari Contractor and Rusi Surti, and India’s first Chief Justice Shri Kania, among many others.

Surat and South Gujarat stand as a symbol of communal harmony across religions. Revered as Parshuram Bhumi and the cremation site of Karna at Ashwinikumar for Hindus; the historic port of Sanjan where Parsis from Persia first landed; the Makkaipul from where Muslims embarked on Haj pilgrimage via the Tapi river port; and the site of the British East India Company’s establishment at Surat Castle in the seventeenth century — the city reflects a rich and inclusive heritage.

Surat is equally legendary for its cuisine - unmatched and unchallenged. As the age-old saying goes: “If one prefers to die in Kashi, one must eat in Surat.”

The Core Committee of AICOG 2027 Surat includes Co-Chairmen Dr. Praful Doshi, Dr. R.C. Gupta, and Dr. Ashwin Vacchani; Vice Chairpersons Dr. Sandhya Chhasatia, Dr. Jagruti Desai, Dr. Anita Shah, Dr. Rajiv Vyas, Dr. Rajesh Tuli, and Dr. Jayesh Patel, along with senior members of the Surat Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society.
